Dating people with different beliefs than Mormons

I dated a guy in college who wanted to know more about my mormon religion, but was also desperate for me not to be Mormon anymore because he wanted to marry me. I never should have dated him because I knew it couldn’t go anywhere and his friends were pressuring him to break up with me because of my mormon religion. He brought me to his church and I was uncomfortable with the worship style. I am not accustomed to drums being played in church and when he came to church with me, he found it boring because he was used to lively music in his. He actually got involved with that church because he wanted to be in the band.
