Kids are naturally inquisitive. One place they display this is with nature. It fascinates them as it does us adults. In light with that some fun kids activities can be derived which can increase their knowledge of science. Get them an inexpensive microscope and let them see the objects through it. At first it may not seem much but with time they get to grow the science mentality so this is really a long term investment. When they are playing with the bugs or running from them, tell them a thing or two about the insect. You could even transform this into some kind of a game.
