Philadelphia

This past weekend I attended my best friend’s bachelor party down in historic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  While it was a bachelor party, it turned out to be relatively tame.  Perhaps it’s our age or just the nature of our group, but we spent much more time getting information about historical sites such as the Liberty Bell or Independence Hall than we did going to house of ill repute or chasing after any of the other vices bachelors are so notorious for pursuing.  That’s not to say we didn’t have a good time engaging in the kind of tom foolery that only a group of guys can. On day two we hit up the historical sites along with a baseball game between our beloved Boston Red Sox and the hometown Phillies.  All in all, it was a great trip: who would have thought Philadelphia could work as a bachelor party destination?

Having to Leave Lanai

One thing for sure is that they certainly made me feel like we were family. In fact, the entire staff at this great lanai hotel is fantastic. The guest service agents conduct interesting, free interactive Hawaiian activities that give you a flavor of the island’s unique pineapple plantation history. The welcome get-together as well as the farewell send-off almost brought tears to my eyes. I didn’t want to leave as I never wat to leave we we have to go home from Hawaii. It was like I was leaving my friends behind. I can at least console myself that we will be coming back to Lanai soon.
