Mediator

In the cases that I have heard over the years it has been beneficial when an expert in the field is called in. Most of the time these experts are good at just giving facts and not necessarily pointing fingers in one direction or the other. Take for instance a medical malpractice expert seems to be almost filling in a mediator role between the jury and those on trial. They are not there to persuade the jurors or even to take sides on what happened. They are there to state the facts in the case and make sure that the parties are represented according to what took place.
