Choosing POS software for a small business can be a difficult choice

December 24, 2007 on 12:12 pm | By admin | In Technology

As a small business owner I really needs to make sure that I get good value for money whenever I buy anything for my business, and that includes computer systems. So when it came to choosing a point-of-sale system a few months ago I really needed to speak to someone who had experience of choosing POS software for a small business so that they would be able to give me proper advice. As it turned out, there are now many different types of point-of-sale system on the market that are made almost specifically for small businesses, and so you can get a really good system without having to spend a great deal of money. The good thing about these systems is that they can be scaled up so that you can add new modules as your business grows.

Writing A Spa Business Plan

December 23, 2007 on 9:13 am | By admin | In Business

How does one write a business plan for a spa? Spa Business Plans are not so different than any other business plans, except that they focus on the world of esthetics & relaxation. Spas are very good businesses as far as retail of the various products they sell, like creams and lotions, because spas tend to set the price of these items quite a bit higher than what they bought them for. You also need a strong theme to set your spa apart from the many others out there.

Get Your Pug Questions Answered

I ran across a brand-new site that looks great for Pug dog owners. The site is UltimatePug.com — it just launched and it is run by Michelle Arthur, a Pug owner and trainer. I grew up with Pugs and I have fond memories of these these adorable little dogs. Now that we’re out in the suburbs and have some room, we’re actually considering getting a Pug. So I was delighted to find this new site! What’s cool is that Michelle is compiling information from a champion Pug breeder, a world-famous trainer and a top vet. There’s a form on the site where you can ask questions and make suggestions. I sent in a suggestion and got back an email reply from Michelle in just a few minutes! If you’re a Pug owner or considering getting one like me, I recommend you go check UltimatePug.com out.

Rogers stainless flatware comes to the rescue

December 22, 2007 on 9:12 am | By admin | In Home

I really do not like looking for birthday presents because I always find it difficult to decide which is the best thing to buy, especially when it’s an important birthday, such as was the case with my friends 40th birthday last year. In the end, I decided to take the advice of a friend, and buy a set of Rogers stainless flatware, because she said this was a present that my friend would be able to use for a long time to come, and it would always be something that she would really enjoy using. I went around the department store straight away and had a look at the various designs that were available, and as though by magic I seemed to find one straightaway. When I got it home I could see straightaway that this really was a nice present, and when my friend got it I knew that I’d made the right decision simply by the look on her face when she opened the parcel.

Are we overmedicating for normal anxiety

December 21, 2007 on 7:12 pm | By admin | In Health

Doctors and psychologists say the broad push to prescribe medications for anxiety attack symptoms is further indication we’re "medicalizing" normal variations in temperament. The advertising is "a double-edged sword”.It’s helped some people realize they need to be on medication, but others may be just going though a bad patch in their lives. And that’s what muddies the waters.GlaxoSmithKline, the maker of Paxil, says the advertising campaigns de-stigmatize anxiety disorders in the same way that publicity surrounding the introduction of Prozac brought depression out of the closet 15 years ago."Our intention is to educate the public about the symptoms of these disorders so that people with serious mental illnesses will seek treatment”, said Dr. Philip Perera, a psychiatrist and group director for clinical psychiatric research at GlaxoSmithKline in Philadelphia.

The many ways of increasing fuel economy

December 21, 2007 on 12:12 pm | By admin | In Autos

Like most people I am always on the lookout for ways of saving money, and one of these is to find ways of increasing fuel economy of my car. I thought that I would have to make some major modifications to the body of my car in order to make some really good gas savings, but I found that by doing something simple such as getting rid of the roof rack when I didn’t need it, closing the windows when I am driving the car in order to eliminate drag, and using cruise control whenever I could, I found that the amount of money that I was spending on gas began to drop substantially. I am now a far more careful driver, and I think a lot of more about what I can do to save fuel.

A Guitar Hero 3 Shows More Gameplay Options

December 20, 2007 on 10:13 pm | By admin | In Technology

The gameplay in Guitar Hero 3 is exactly what any die hard fan of Guitar Hero would expect it to be. Veteran players of the previous Guitar Hero video games will feel right at home with this rendition. A guitar hero 3 review shows more of the same but with a few twists. The career mode has been modified to accommodate Guitar Hero aficionados. For instance, now gamers can play through the entire game from beginning to end in single or cooperative player mode. Both players can play different instruments in the game in cooperative play mode. For example, player 1 can play as the lead guitar player while player 2 will control the bass.

Fun With Alphabet Soup

December 20, 2007 on 10:12 am | By admin | In Home

Do you remember spelling out simple little words with the letters swiming around in your bowl of alphabet soup? It’s just as fun for kids today, so grab a can of the soup, or a box of alphabet cereal and have some fun spelling out words over lunch or breakfast with your kids.

If you use the alphabet cereal you can also use it to make a fun collage. Stick it on a paper plate to make a simple alphabet soup craft that will have your kids practicing their spelling while they are having fun.  Or fold a piece of construction paper in half and use the cereal letters to create a 3-dimensional message on the front of the card.

Other ideas are to bake or buy alphabet cookies. I also like to keep a couple of boxes of magnetic alphabet letters around to let the kids create messages on the fridge. It’s inexpensive and a lot of fun for them. I feel good about providing my kids with some activities that not only keep them busy and entertained, but are also educational.
